Abraham Rosette (also spelled Rosett, Roset) and Susan Boylston are the 3rd great grandparents of my husband.
Abraham Rosette born 29 Jul 1780 in New York married Susan Boylston 30 May 1804 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a Cabinet Maker. They had four children: Almira, Eliza, Francis & Louisa. Abraham died on 8 Apr 1815 in Elizabethtown, New Jersey. His wife Susan never remarried and she died 23 Apr 1847 (location not verified).
They are both buried in the First Presbyterian Churchyard, Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey. You can find their memorials here:

ReplyDeleteI was so excited to see this. It certainly sparked the waning flames of the passion for my genealogy search again.
The name's Beth Rosette, and I am a direct descendant from this Abraham Rosette's little brother, George Goslin Rosette (b 1790), the youngest child of David and Lydia Rosette.
Not only is it hard for me to trace back my small family, but with how genealogy goes, one oft forgets the stories of their siblings. And so there I am, tracing my paternal line, writing down the names of their parents and siblings only to come to understand that I have no idea what became of their siblings in life and legacy. Well, now this has given me the closure of George's brother's success in life.
Thanks so much for posting this, and if you need any more information on the Rosettes (Rouset, Rozet, Roset, etc), I'd be happy to to share what scraps of information I managed to dig up regarding the family and those before Abraham.

I am very enthusiastic about this because, as you know how genealogy goes, when researching one's line nothing much is said of your ancestor's other relatives much less besides date of birth and death. So, there I was, writing down all of the information I could find on my paternal line only to come to understand that I have no other information on my ancestors' siblings and what sort of lives they led. Now, with this, I can settle in knowing George's brother, Abraham, was indeed sucessful in life and legacy.
Cannot express enough thanks. But, if you'd like any more information on the Rosettes (Roset, Rozet, Rouset, etc), I'd be happy to share what scraps of information I could find for the family and those that came before Abraham.
