Privacy Policy/Disclosures

In response to the European Union’s recent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), I am following the advice of others and providing a Privacy Policy even though I do not need one since I do not make money through my blog nor do I collect information about visitors.

Here’s what readers need to know:
·         I do not sell anything nor do I make money with this blog in any way.
·         I do not accept advertising.
·         I do not sponsor give-aways.
·         I do not ask readers to subscribe to a newsletter.
·         I do not ask readers to join a mailing list.
·         I do not collect or store reader information from comments. However, readers who request information about a shared ancestor may possibly do so through email; therefore, I do have that contact information.
·         I do not write about the living except for an occasional reference to my immediate family and cousins who are not named or personally identifiable.

Since my blog is hosted on Blogger which is a service of Google, readers should read Google’s privacy policy.

AI Usage Disclosure

AI is one of the tools I use to assist with research, writing, and organization, but it does not replace human judgment, critical thinking, or thorough genealogical research. All conclusions, analysis, and storytelling on this blog are my own.

AI assists in:

  • Research & Data Organization – Transcribing historical documents, translating foreign-language records, structuring timelines and tables, and summarizing large amounts of text. All AI-generated content is reviewed and verified with reputable sources.
  • Writing & Editing – Improving grammar, refining sentence structure, and assisting with citations. However, all final edits and narratives are written and approved by me.
  • Photo & Document Analysis – Occasionally, I use AI tools to help analyze old photographs, estimate dates, extract text, or perform minor restoration. Any AI-altered images will be clearly identified.
  • Image Creation – At times, I create AI-generated images for my blog to illustrate concepts, enhance storytelling, or provide visuals when historical photos are unavailable. These images are intended as complementary content and are not used as historical representations unless otherwise noted.

While AI enhances efficiency in certain aspects of my work, my research, conclusions, and storytelling remain human-driven. If you have any questions about how AI is used in this blog, feel free to reach out.
