JAMBOREE 2018 ~ Day One

Day One - marriott banner

Debby Warner Anderson and I arrived at the Marriott here in Burbank last night.  The drive up from Ramona was uneventful and smooth.  The Marriott staff are always welcoming and very eager to meet any needs (extra pillows, towels etc.)

I’m on my own today because I didn’t register for either the Family History Writer’s Conference (Debby is attending those classes), nor did I register for the Genetic Genealogy Conference.  Why didn’t I register?  Well, because I was fortunate enough to win a two day pass for Friday and Saturday classes and to be honest, I just never looked at Thursday.  Mistake?  Yes, in hindsight.  I could have registered late, but chose not to.  I found out that the three Genetic Genealogy classes I wanted to attend will be available via DVD or Streaming.  So, I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

At registration we received a nice tote bag, a flash drive containing the syllabus’ for classes and other goodies.

Day One - welcome bag

We have a dinner event this evening with speaker Diahan Southard and a breakfast event with Thomas MacEntee tomorrow.

I’m looking forward to the classes I will attend on Friday and Saturday.

In the meantime, I’m chatting with friends as I see them around the conference center.

I’ll have more to share in the next couple of days, so stay tuned.

Happy hunting,
Michigan Girl
